[ and soon enough the crowd of ladies thins out.... to the sight of a less dense, much more obviously male gathering around a spot with a particular few stalls. A lot of them are sitting at the reading tables set up in the area either tired, bored or engrossed in heavy tomes... there's a general henpecked look to most of them as well. ]
