This is Lepus, Noric. I can assure you, everyone does a little human experimentation here.

[his tone is dull, like it's fact]

I'm aware.

[but it's different to hear it about someone related to Xavier.]

[smiles sardonically]

I always said I wasn't much of a Lepus. Cain was, of course.

So what did you say to him?

[still smiling]

I told him to leave, he got upset, words were exchanged and I slammed the door in his face.

...stop that.

I rather not.

Why?

Because it'll all come crashing down on me.

And you think it's better, to pretend everything is fine and nothing touches you?

[there's a flash of anger]

And you think it's better? living with every foreign emotion? Having it take yuo completely?

You're not talking about foreign emotions. You're talking about your own.

All right, fine. How did you feel about it, then?

I can give it to you in steps. When people find out about my powers, it starts with nausea, then disgust, then awkwardness from someone knowing that much, and finally hate. It's a fairly typical pattern.

[stands up]

Xavier, I am not asking about other people. I am asking about you.

[holds his wrists, to resist covering his ears again]

I can't. I couldn't. It's all a mess.

[plants his hands on Xavier's shoulders.]

And it will stay a mess unless you do something about it.

[looks at him, then nods]

My thoughts are clear, but the feelings leak in and I feel... lost. Like I don't know who I am, who I ever was. Anger is easy to brush off. The more insiduous emotions... they don't go away.

But you know they aren't yours.

Sometimes, it's just... hard to tell. That's why I live out here. At least if I'm away from people, I know who I am.

Why do you let me stay here, then.
